At CrossFit Gulf Breeze, we work with each new client to determine a fitness model that best fits their individual needs. Our programming is meant to be scaled and suitable for all ages and physical conditions.

Head Coach and Owner Jarett Venn

Jarett is the Owner at CrossFit Gulf Breeze. He grew up in Gulf Breeze and played soccer from youth through high school. He went to college at UWF where he received his bachelors degree in exercise science. Jarett is  an avid surfer and often participates in local CrossFit competitions. He has completed two marathons, 2 half Ironman, full Ironman (Florida 2010).

Coach Candace Smith

Candace was a competitive swimmer growing up and went on to coach swimming. She attended UWF and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary and exceptional education. She has four children and is our very own personal trainer. Candace also runs our CrossFit Kids program. She has been doing CrossFit for 8 years, and has her CrossFit level 1 certificate.

Coach Jason Stone Weiss

Jason attended his first Level 1 seminar in 2007, and has been a CrossFit enthusiast ever since. He has since completed Coach Burgener’s Olympic weightlifting course, CrossFit Endurance, POSE running with Dr. Romanov, and Kelly Starrets mobility course.  He is a big proponent of mobility, nutrition/diet, and functional form.  He says, “I have seen great athletes go down from shoulder and back injuries so I’m always stressing movements and proper execution to avoid injuries.  In my job as a (now 20 year) Medic I have the privilege of working with Human Performance trainers, military athletes, sleep specialists (yes that matters), nutritionists, and some great minds alike.  The only thing I like more than working out is talking about working out.  My outlook is that everyone is an athlete, and our only competition is being better than we were yesterday.”

Coach Kyle Gibbs

Kyle was born and raised in Seattle, WA. He graduated from the Divers Institute of Technology in 2006, and has been doing underwater construction as a commercial diver ever since. He lived in LA for four years before moving to FL in 2010. Kyle began his CrossFit journey in January 2016 as a New Year’s resolution to get in better shape., and quickly fell in love with it. He often spent his time watching hours of YouTube tutorials and staying after classes to improve his skills. before becoming CrossFit level 1 certified in March 2020.

Coach Patricia Phaneuf

Trish is a wife and working Mom of 2 kids. She’s crazy busy but that doesn’t slow her down (AT ALL) when it comes to working out! She started CrossFit 10 years ago after the birth of her son. One workout and she was hooked! In 2012 and 2013 she qualified for the Master’s Regionals after The Open. Because of her passion for fitness, she got her Level 1 certification in 2012 so she could share her knowledge and passion with others.

“I love to encourage and inspire people; it makes my day when athletes come up and fist bump me after working out saying that was awesome!”

Coach Dustin Parrett

Dustin is no stranger to any part of the fitness world. He is a United States Marine, Avid skydiver and USPA Accelerated Free Fall Instructor. He has competed in multiple Iron Man events where he has finished while making it look a great time! As if that’s not impressive enough, he has qualified for Spartan Racing’s North American Championship, Qualified for Trifecta World Championship in Sparta Greece in 2019, and he is an ultra Marathon Runner. When he’s not competing in CrossFit competitions regionally you can find him hiking the trails or hanging with his adorable chocolate lab, and widely admired pup at CFGB, Willow.

Coach Chrisoula Jernigan

Chrisoula has been a member of CrossFit Gulf Breeze for 7 years. She was hooked and fell in love with fitness after seeing results and competing in several local competitions. She lost 40 pounds and has never felt better. She enjoys fitness with her husband, David, who also started his fitness journey at CrossFit Gulf Breeze. Their daughter, Melina, is usually close by watching and is her Mom’s biggest fan!
